this is the way we wash a day

2 Reviews

Former Waldorf kindergarten teacher Mary Schunemann created a songbook to ease the day's transitions and bring a song to every activity, enlivening the mundane with a splash of celebration. Singing is an easy way to draw younger children into the day's tasks- from cleaning to hand washing to painting. Your voice raised in song is a gentle way to transition them from one activity to the next without giving instructions that can often trigger resistance.

There are several essays at the beginning about working and singing. Mary writes about the history of work songs. This is followed by two essays on children and helping at home. Finally, there is a fun, thought-provoking interview with Pete Seeger!

The book comes with QR codes in the back to download Mary's a cappella singing which will help you learn the songs.

Get singing!

This book will have you singing along on the very first day even if you can't read a single note of music! Great little songs to weave throughout your work and play.

This is a wonderful book, full of songs that support growing and learning in the most joyous of ways. Songs that parents and care givers can sing with their children when learning how to button a sweater, sweep the floor, make soup, and even brushing teeth! Such fun.
